Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat is a Registered Psychologist in private practice with interest in promoting positive change, well-being, and mindful living. He is a public speaker, meditation and yoga teacher. His interest in wellness led him to Laughter Yoga in 2007. He then trained with the creator of Laughter Yoga from India, Dr. Kataria. Kasim teaches the Certified Laughter Yoga Leader (CLYL) training in BC. He is also passionate about bringing Laughter Yoga to organizations, conferences, schools and corporate events. His work in has caught the attention of the media, such as Maclean’s magazine, Simon Fraser University News, Global BC Television, radio interviews and podcasts.
Kasim is also founder of the Centre for Mindfulness Canada, in North Vancouver, offering mindfulness programs and professional development trainings. Kasim has completed a six-month retreat in Southeast Asia in silence, and presented a TEDx talk on mindfulness, entitled “How mindfulness meditation redefines pain, happiness & satisfaction”.
