Dr. Kasim Al-Mashat

Kasim’s counselling background and interest in wellness led him to Laughter Yoga in 2007. After personally experiencing the benefits of increased laughter and joy it brought to his life, he pursued his instructor certification. Kasim trained with Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of Laughter Yoga, and became a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher. He co-leads the certification program for new Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders in BC. His work in Laughter Yoga has caught the attention of media including Maclean’s magazine, Simon Fraser University News, and Global BC Television.

Kasim is also passionate about bringing Laughter Yoga to organizations, conferences, schools and corporate retreats. His Laughter Yoga events receive rave reviews, such as presenting at the Youth Summit at Rogers Arena and at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Beyond the Blues: Depression and Anxiety Screening Day

Kasim runs a free monthly Laughter Yoga class at the Paul Sugar Foundation, North Vancouver The classes are open to everyone in the community.  

Kasim also teaches Mindfulness info sessions for free, and leads Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs. He completed a six-month intensive meditation retreat in silence in Southeast Asia, and here is his TEDx talk about mindfulness
